It is this quintessentially all embracing approach of Totally free of cost ,high quality care for national and Human Development, that guides all action at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals.

Free of Cost

“Vaidyo Narayano Harihi” is an ancient Indian phrase which states that “A Doctor is a form of Narayana or God himself”. This timeless truth is at the core of numerous Medical Institutions established by Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who led the way and established global models of tertiary hospitals providing TOTALLY FREE OF COST healthcare services to millions for close to three decades. Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital has been established with this fundamental tenet as the basis.

It is estimated that open heart CHD surgeries cost around US $ 4000 – 6000 across most private Indian Hospitals. Today, only 2-3% of infants requiring congenital heart surgery actually undergo it, as either the condition is undetected, or facilities are unavailable or unaffordable.

It is to address this national gap of affordable Pediatric Cardiac Care that All services of Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals are rendered TOTALLY FREE OF COST to All. These include screening, education, out-patient services, surgeries, inpatient treatment, drugs and consumables, diet and boarding & lodging for patient attendants.

An internal study that was conducted to measure the impact of Totally Free of Cost Health Care services in the area of Child heart Care , at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani, presents a compelling picture to understand the multi dimensional impact it can create in the lives of the beneficiaries. Some key findings of this survey are presented below:

The figures on the right clearly indicate the immeasurable impact that a free of cost health care can have in protecting these highly vulnerable families from the vicious cycles of poverty.

Over 55% of the households have an approximate monthly income of Rs 10,000.
Over 62% families have already incurred debt.
82% of the families are self employed and work primarily as daily wage workers in Agriculture sector, which has high variability in their incomes.
60% of the patients availing services at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani come from Rural parts of the country.
44% responded that they would have to sell their assets and also take an additional loan to meet the medical expenses in the absence of Sai Sanjeevani.

Nation Building

Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the trust’s Founder President’s contribution towards providing free and quality healthcare to all for decades now across different parts of our country, stands out as a beacon of hope and succor to innumerable ailing and poor patients.

Apart from providing free healthcare, Sri Sathya Sai Baba also emphasized the need to provide inclusive healthcare, that is to provide services to ALL, irrespective of caste, religion, region and nationality.

Inspired by Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s principles, Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani is committed to contributing to a Healthy India by addressing the national burden of congenital heart diseases.

Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is a leading life threatening disease affecting the country’s young. Over 2,00,000 children, or almost one out of every 10 births, are born with the disease every year contributing to an alarmingly high Infant Mortality in India. Given the enormity of the problem, ironically very few institutions provide affordable pediatric cardiac surgery services and even the existing ones are inequitably spread across the country.

Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital has touched little hearts from across 17 states and 4 countries. Every heart operated upon is a “Gift of Life” by Bhagwan Sai Baba to children.

Divine Child Health Programme

The health of a child is the true wealth of the nation.

The Institute of Public Health at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani commenced the Divine Child Health Program (DCHP), a rural child health screening and early intervention programin July 2013. It is pursued as per the guidelines of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram Initiative, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

Focussing on the 4 Ds in children namely – Defects , Deficiencies, Diseases and Developmental delays, it aims to contribute to the health of children through timely detection, prevention, education and medical management.

This systematic and scientific screening of rural school children is presently done in Chhattisgarh State, India. The benefits result in socio-economic health relief to the child and it’s family and provide invaluable medical data for analysis and research.
